Packing for spring break but leaving the shorts behind? These cold weather spring break outfits give you plenty of ideas, from cream vests and leggings to long coats and colorful sweaters.

There are simple combinations here plus a few dressier looks for your trip.

You can keep things neutral or bring in a little blue, green or yellow. Start with your forecast, then choose your layers.

Some of these outfits have heavier outerwear while the lighter looks will need an extra coat for colder days.

Spring break outfits for chilly days

cream vest and brown leggings

We’re starting off strong with this cute cream vest and brown leggings combo. I love how the white long-sleeve top, socks and pale sneakers all work together.

Leave the vest open if you want to follow this look, with its tall collar framing the neckline.

blue jacket and gray hoodie

If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. An oversized blue jacket goes over a gray hoodie, with black leggings and chunky gray sneakers below.

The little black handbag is a pretty finishing touch. Keep your socks showing above the shoes like they are here.

striped sleeves and a gray vest

How cute is this striped sweater? The pale yellow hem and cuffs are my favorite little details.

A textured gray vest, cuffed pale pants and a gray beanie make up the rest of the look.

Try a small crossbody bag like this one if you don’t want to carry a tote.

long cardigan and frayed jeans

I am obsessed with this long gray cardigan. It’s so pretty over a plain white tee and blue jeans, especially with those gold-tone necklaces.

You don’t need to add much else. Pale sneakers with brown soles finish the outfit shown here.

checked jacket and tall black boots

If you love a short skirt with an oversized jacket, this one is worth saving. The checked outer layer sits over a pale sweater and dark pleated mini, with white socks peeking above tall black boots.

I especially love the green cap. For your own colder-day version, add tights rather than leaving your legs bare.

cream jacket with brown trim

This jacket may just be one of my favorites here. I love the dark brown collar and cuffs against the textured cream body.

Pair a similar jacket with cuffed dark jeans, white socks and white sneakers with black stripes. The roomy black bag keeps the accessories simple.

beige trench over black

Don’t want to add lots of color to your suitcase? No problem! Try a long beige trench over a black top and wide-leg pants.

The oval sunglasses and chain-strap bag are so pretty with this outfit. Black sneakers with white stripes keep it from feeling too dressed up.

yellow sweater and brown coat

The brown and pale yellow pairing in the middle of this collage is so cute. I love the long coat with blue jeans and the matching brown cap.

Tie a patterned scarf at your neck to follow this combination. Those yellow sneaker laces are another little detail worth keeping.

blue layers and a printed headscarf

Want to try a blue jacket with blue jeans? This outfit gives you a lovely way to do it.

A gray sweater shows underneath the long jacket, with brown shoes and a large brown shoulder bag.

The printed headscarf is my favorite part. Try one with a small repeating pattern if you like this look.

plaid shirt and burgundy beanie

How cute is this burgundy beanie with the matching bag? Both look so good beside the blue-and-brown plaid shirt.

Wear your shirt open over a cream top, then add blue jeans and tan ankle boots. A brown belt finishes the outfit without adding another color.

cream half-zip set

If you’re looking for an outfit that keeps the colors simple, go with this cream half-zip top and matching drawstring pants. I love the wide collar and long, loose pant legs.

The small black shoulder bag is a nice extra touch beside all that cream.

oversized scarf and black jacket

I am obsessed with this big pale scarf. It wraps over the head and around the neck, with the ends hanging over a black jacket.

White wide-leg pants and a structured taupe handbag complete the combination. Save this one if you like the idea of pale layers with a darker jacket.

black cargos and white sunglasses

Don’t want to go overboard with different colors? No problem there! This black zip-neck top and cargo pants pairing keeps things simple.

I love the white oval sunglasses against the dark printed headscarf. The gray-and-black sneakers bring another little break from the all-black outfit.

gray cardigan and brown loafers

This is such a pretty outfit to build from pieces you might already have. A gray button-front cardigan sits over a white tee, with loose blue jeans and brown loafers.

Don’t forget the white socks if you want the same look. I’d keep the little silver-tone hoops too.

blue sweater and tall boots

How gorgeous is this blue? The oversized sweater has a long hem, with patterned tights and glossy black knee-high boots underneath.

Try this combination for a dressier outfit on your trip. I’d add a long coat for heading outside.

brown jacket and checked cuffs

This is another favorite jacket on the list. Mostly because the turned-back checked cuffs look so cute beside the cream ribbed sweater.

Dark blue jeans and brown strap flats finish the outfit. Keep the jacket open to show that checked detail along the front too.

green hoodie and white pants

If you are looking for something casual without lots of accessories, this one is for you. A dark green hoodie, white pants and green sneakers make such a cute combination.

I love that the shoes pick up the color of the hoodie. A plain black shoulder bag is all this look adds.

black sweater and red socks

Who knew a little pair of red socks could look this cute? They peek out between the pale blue jeans and glossy black loafers.

The black sweater keeps the top half simple. Try a playful bag charm like the ones here if you want another small detail.

striped top and pale blue jeans

Don’t want to plan a whole outfit around your accessories? Look no further because this striped top and wide-leg jeans pairing is for you.

I love the little button neckline and the frayed jean hems. Brown sneakers finish this simple combination.

dark puffer and lace-up boots

Last but definitely not least, we have this layered puffer outfit. The pale textured half-zip sits under a dark jacket, with gray leggings and a dark beanie.

I especially love the pale socks showing above the brown-and-black lace-up boots. Save this combination if your spring break plans call for more layers rather than lighter sweaters.
